Korean Food USA is a new series that showcases Korean and Korean-inspired eateries all around the nation.
The increasing popularity and success of Korean food trucks in LA caught the attention of Atlanta-based Chef Thomas Lee. He was passionate about bringing Korean BBQ to ATL’s food scene, and felt Korean and Mexican fusion was exactly what the city needed. Hankook Taqueria is a restaurant in Atlanta, GA, that serves up very affordable and delicious Kor-Mex fusion tacos, burritos, and various unique streets snacks—like their Gogi Nachos!
Burritos contain the same garnishes as the tacos—but with Kimchi Fried Rice!
Their Pork Taco, at only $2.25 a taco, consists of Dae Ji Gogi, pulled pork marinated in spicy Korean BBQ sauce, lettuce, green onion, green cabbage that is tossed in soy sesame vinaigrette, onions, cilantro, lime, and jack cheese. The contents that go into the tacos and burritos are the same, but you can choose your favorite kind of meat or non-meat: Bulgogi (marinated beef), Dak Gogi (spicy chicken), Saeng Seon (Fish), Tofu, Shrimp, and Calamari.
Hankook Taqueria also offers street snacks as well; like their DaeJi Gogi Sliders (below), and Gogi Nachos—which are nacho chips topped with melted Jack Cheese and Korean marinated Rib eye Beef.
DaeJi Gogi Sliders, Korean marinated Spicy Pork with Cucumber Kimchi.
Hankook Taqueria also operates Yubmii, a food truck we featured on our Top 5 Korean-American Cities series.
