yoo didn’t give a clear answer during the entire interview. this is the same non-responsive game he played when he was asked in the past to clarify his statements and torture memos regarding the president’s power to authorize ‘enhanced interrogation techniques’. bottom line is that he was tasked by the white house with finding a legal justification for torture and he complied. he squeezed square pegs into round holes to serve his master because he was clever enough to do it and arrogant enough to not care that that his arguments reeked of disingenuity. he authored countless memos that were later repudiated by the department of justice. even now, he invokes doomsday scenarios and talks about the need to protect a nation at war, but he has never strayed beyond the security of his desk and academia to understand exactly what kind of threat we’re facing. he’s not a soldier; he’s never put himself in harm’s way. torture only serves to embolden the enemy and steel their hatred of the u.s. his serpentine logic and serpent’s tongue only weakened our country and put our troops in more danger. he is not a korean who represents me.
